Proposed Perception to Activate the Education Endowment in Funding the Jordanian Public Universities

Abstract | الملخص

This study aimed at identifying the role of endowments in funding the Jordanian public universities, and approaching a proposed conception to activate the education endowment to finance the Jordanian public universities. The study sample consisted of (140) academic and administrative leaders, who were randomly chosen out of the study population (n=258) people in the academic year 2014/2015. The study employed the analytic descriptive method. To achieve the study objectives, a questionnaire was designed and validated for reliability and validity. The results indicated that the role of the education endowment in financing the Jordanian public universities was medium. The study made a conceived proposal to activate the education endowment in funding the universities. Data processing was done through the SPSS program, which enabled the researchers obtain the means (Ms) and Standard Deviations (SDs). The most important recommendations of the study were: first, adoption of the proposed education endowment project to activate the education endowment in funding the Jordanian public universities to cover all the educational areas. Second, initiation of a fund for education endowment, with an electronic website for this fund. Third, creation of endowment centers for the scientific research works, and providing expenditures for the researchers and their requirements in the different cultural and scientific fields. Finally, allocating "Day" by every university to be named" The Education Endowment Day", dedicated for the scientific endowments, maintaining and looking after them.
