This study focuses on Ibn-Malik’s approach in differentiating between Al-ḍād and Al-ẓā. It analyzes the important features of Ibn-Malik’s approach throughout a phenomenon that balances the two phonemes based on multiple reasons and a diversity of classifications. The study also investigates Ibn-Malik’s efforts in understanding the heritage of Al-ḍād and Al-ẓā, as well as appreciating the basics of his approach by adding the following: linguistic codes in order to distinguish the difference between Al-ḍād and Al-ẓā; coherence; induction and citation; and exploring certain linguistic issues in word formations of Al-ḍād and Al-ẓā. As a final point, the study concludes with the most important findings conducted throughout the study.
