“Eltifat” (translated as diversion) is one of the styles noticeably used in the Holy Quran. It is also one of the tools of the Arabic language, which, when used, adds tremendous beauty to the style of speech. In the Quran, the use of this style was observed particularly in swrat “Al Baqarah” (chapter 2) in 12 verses which discussed the subject of Bani Israel (the Israelites) but was not used in the versus on any other subject within that Surah (chapter), making this a study-worthy subject. Hence, this study was conducted to exploit the effect of context on the use of this style in Quran, in particular, to show how the eltifat contributed to the subject unity of Surah Al Baqarah, proving how the honor of being the vicegerents of Allah was taken away from the Israelites, having failed to follow Allah’s mandated path for this vicegerency.
